Barring any governmental COVID-19 restrictions, The Berkeley Potters Guild is hosting their annual Holiday Show and Open House.
Because of coronavirus this year, we will only be open two weekends on December 5th and 6th and December 12th and 13th from 11am-5pm with all COVID-19 protocols in place like mandatory masks the entire time in the building over nose and mouth, hand sanitizing stations, limited customers allowed in the building at one time, social distancing and no public restrooms will be available.
I will be debuting my new white honey pots along with the yellow honey pots, my new pedestal bowls, new designs on familiar forms and many new shapes and sizes of thrown porcelain vases. I am really excited to finally get the chance to show off some of the things I’ve been working on this year in our forced solitary existences.
Namely, I have been playing with new clay bodies, including that “hipster clay” that is the speckled buff colored clay of my honey pots. I have also been throwing different vase sizes and shapes in porcelain – literally one of the hardest things to do in ceramics (aside from maybe hand-building in porcelain. Think throwing cream cheese or butter and definitely something that doesn’t want to stand up on its own or grow tall like a pot is supposed to want to grow tall! Porcelain is floppy and mischievous and NEVER listens! You can see my efforts to tell it who is the BOSS.
Hopefully next year I will get all of these items up online for sale in my web shops but for now, these items can only be purchased in person at the Guild show or if you convo me.
